This Forgotten Desert is a player-accessible location situated directly below Thirsty Oasis. In the old map of Jamaa originally published in Animal Jam Play Wild, a desert area will be known as the Forgotten Desert. This post will be covering two different aspects -- the land if it were to be in the game itself, and the lore I've built around it.

Appearance[]

The Forgotten Desert is a large expanse of land covered in sand. Said by Liza that the crystals protecting the land has cursed the land to be a desert forever, the current minority desert is home to misfits and desert dwellers not wanting to see anyone. And phantoms. Hordes of phantoms.

Shops[]

  • The Oasis Cart - found in the sub location of Mirage Valley (or, Oasis of Splendor), travel back in time and purchase things like crates, mini hot-air balloons and crystal replicas
  • The Tourist Trap - set in the Minority Desert, the Tourist Trap sells a variety of trinkets such as keychains and desert clothing for brave travellers. It is not an actual tourist trap.

Trivia[]

  • This is based of a large desert area below Thirsty Oasis.

Now, lets get into the lore. Feel free to add whatever stuff you want in here.

Geography[]

It is situated directly below Thirsty Oasis, separated by the Tornado Mountain Range to the North, East and West. In the center nothing but sand and sand creatures could be found. However, continuing to venture south would lead to another land in Jamaa. In the North-West, a small oasis can be found. Obviously, the desert is never small and reach vast expanses therefore the desert will have the following sub-locations.

The Minority Desert[]

This is the location where flying animals run in the adventure of the same name. The minority desert contains ponds, large cacti, rock arches, tepees and a large portal sitting on the tallest rock spire in the entire sub-location. Since it is the only part of the desert discovered until today, it has been mistaken for the entire Forgotten Desert. However, this is not the case. The Forgotten Desert National Park train station is also located here.

Eagle Pass[]

Situated directly South of the Minority Desert sits Eagle Pass, a large collection of rock formations shaped like eagle heads due to wind erosion. Some of the Eagle Heads posses water springs inside them, coming out of the rocks from holes. A pillar separated a few kilometers away from the rest of the collection has a hut on top of it. This is Valentina's Pillar, the pillar the Eagle Alpha spent her days in while surviving in the desert. It was with luck that Eagle Squadron, Jamaa's official eagle flight armada, came by accident and found her.

The Complete Crystals[]

The Complete Crystals are giant crystal formations in the center of the Forgotten Desert. These are the crystals that protect the land, however, even restored, their magic has worn off for a thousand years and the entire desert is doomed to be a desert forever. The original crystals were broken off by the phantoms and the shards scattered around the desert, most found in the Minority Desert. Nobody knows how the crystals managed to grow in the middle of such an expansive land. There are more than 5 crystals as what was previously believed. There are actually 10 -- green, yellow, blue, white, purple, black, red, orange, pink and grey.

Mirage Valley[]

Mirage Valley is the location usually mistaken for Eagle Pass. It supposedly sits on the green oasis area. There is only one problem -- Mirage Valley doesn't exist. The green oasis patch is actually an oasis called the Oasis of Splendor, a small trading port in the middle of the desert, and used to be run by camels before they were sealed into their own heartstones. Mirage Valley can also move, sometimes appearing as close as being visible on the horizon from the Minority Desert. If anyone claims to have set foot in Mirage Valley, they are lying.

The Sinking Sands[]

The Sinking Sands sit East of Eagle Pass near the Tornado Mountain Range. It is a large plain of quicksand stretching many kilometers wide, and many unlucky lives have passed through it without making it out alive. However, animals who could spread their body weight over a large area could pass through the sands safely. Approach this area with caution.

The Dunes of Death[]

The Dunes of Death are large dangerous sand dunes constantly surrounded by sandstorms. A nest of phantoms infest the land and most of the stashed crystal shards are found in giant piles under the ground. The Dunes of Death are located South-West of the Complete Crystals and whipping winds will usually deter anyone from coming any closer. If there is someone stupid enough to come close, if the phantoms do not get them first, the sands will swallow them alive.

The Land of Spirits[]

The Land of Spirits is a fabled land that sits South-West of the Dunes of Death. It is thought to be found on the highest point of the Tornado Mountain Range. It is said only those who pass the Dunes of Death alive could see it -- a place of sanctuary for the ones who suffered from fear, a land of hope for the hopeless. No one knows whether it truly exists.

The Quiet Expanse (aka the Southern Desert)[]

South-East of the Complete Crystals are the Quiet Expanse. The largest sub-location of the desert, it is quiet, peaceful and tranquil, only the sound of the whistling wind could be heard. Weary travelers find this a safe haven from the Dunes of Death though the land can get boring in a few minutes -- it's nothing but sand.
